Steve Doll - Class Of 1969

Class of 1969. Nov. 9, 1951-July 30, 2008, Steve died from liver cancer. He is greatly missed by friends and family.

November 9, 1951 - July 30, 2008. Louis S. Doll, III, known as "Steve" to his family and friends, went to be with our Lord on July 30, 2008 under hospice care, in Colorado Springs, from cancer in the liver. Steve was born in Colorado Springs at Memorial Hospital on November 9, 1951. He moved to Wharton, New Jersey for 11 years and then moved back to Colorado Springs. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1969 where he played the saxophone and loved baseball. He and his wife, Judy, had the same circle of friends in high school and after, but never met until ten years later at a party. One year after they met, they were married and August 25, 2008 would have been their 29th wedding anniversary. Steve is survived by his loving wife, Judy; daughter, Shara L. Knox and son-in-law Richard J. Knox who is serving his 3rd tour in Iraq; daughter, Rebecca L. Golubovich; and granddaughter, Anicca M. Purewal. He is also survived by his mother, Marie D. Lemesany; sisters, JoAnn Bullock and Betty McGowan; brother, Lee S. Doll; and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis S. Doll, Jr. Steve was self-employed as a trim carpenter with Sunset Road Wookworking and sub-contracted for years with Hall Woodworks. He was an expert craftsman. He loved fishing, camping, classic hard rock and was in a band in his earlier years named Sunset Road. He also loved working in his yard and planting flowers. Steve was a loving, caring person who never met a stranger. His smile and laughter will be greatly missed by many. His fighting yet peaceful spirit has taught those of us that are left behind that every day is a gift from God and to be lived to the fullest. The family wishes to thank their wonderful family members, friends, and their employers for their support. They also wish to thank Pikes Peak Hospice for their care and understanding. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2008 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum. A fellowship reception will be held at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Blvd., following the funeral.

Betty Doll (McGowan) (1983)

Steve was the best brother. We had never spoken a harsh word with each other. In two days it will be a year since he left us. It has been the worst year of my life. I still miss him so much. He died on our Mother's 82nd birthday. So I know this birthday is going to be hard on her. Please keep our family in your prayers.
