I had the honor of playing football and basketball with Gene in the first season of HHS history 1955-56 and in our second year, 1956-57. One very classy guy and a damn good ball player too. He was a great role model too, alway calm, cool and collected as we used to say.
As I began the research of all the athletics for the 55-65 HHS teams I learned that Gene became a very productive scorer in basketball in his Junior and Senior years and became a league/city all-star. Well deserved.
