Al Derby

Albert C. Derby Jr. passed away on July 12th after a short illness. He was born on August 15, 1943 in Pueblo, CO to Albert C. Derby Sr. and Susan R. Derby, the eldest of three children. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1962 and Colorado State University in Pueblo with a BS in Chemistry and Math. He was drafted into the Army in 1967 and served 3 years as an instructor in guided missiles. He was an educator at Falcon School District 49, District 11 and retired from Widefield School District 3 in 2007. He was active with the Disabled American Veterans, and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed going to the shooting range, gardening and landscaping. He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Kindle Derby; and his niece, Christie Fike. Al is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janet; and his son, Robert (Jennaeh); as well as his granddaughters, Jaden and Devan; his siblings, Alice Allen (Dick) and Shirley Emerson (Daniel); and numerous nieces and nephews.
