Gene Phillip Tubac was born at Fort Leonard Wood military hospital, Missouri while his parents were stationed there after leaving the Philippines. They moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1958 where he has resided since. He is the 4th out of five children of the Tubac family born to Cristeta Tubac and Galo D. Tubac. Gene love to ski, skateboard, and had a passion for martial arts. His love for Sci-fi was there the moment he read his first comic book and started a collection of all things Star Wars and Godzilla that put most collectors to shame. Gene was a world traveler and had done films such as documentaries, commercials and other small films. He was a senior photojournalist with KKTV 11 news for many years and won awards for his photojournalism. For several years he was his 95 year old mother’s caretaker while also enduring a rapidly progressive lung disease, which in the end took his life quietly. He was 64. Gene is preceded in death by his father Galo D. Tubac. He is survived by his son Chase Tubac (Thea O’Connell), grandson Ivan G. Tubac, mother Cristeta Tubac, brother’s Gregory Tubac(Karen), George Tubac and Gilbert Tubac(Sandra). His sister Teresita Smith (Terry Smith). His many nieces and nephews. Cousins and other family members. His family will greatly miss him.
