School Story:
Mike Johnson, Kent Bamesburger, Bobby Turman, Lorraine Rucker -- where are you?
So many turbulent memories: busing, racial tension and integration, tail-end hippies, woodsies, getting into a fist-fight with Eva Romero and losing badly, almost getting beat-up by Duane Myers' (Flappers) old girlfriends because I dared to date a brother and summarily ended friendships with whites who didn't approve, the dress code revolt, Mr. English's History Class, Mike Johnson and his beat-up car and 25-cents a gallon gasoline. Belatedly, I'm mad that the 1974 class officers, including me, didn't take a year-book picture. My best friends of the "color-coalition" Vicki Schrader (white), Polly Ball (black) and me (Filipino-American). I hated, hated, hated HS and the only time I was happy was singing with the Choir and Madrigals. Thank you Ms. Booth and love to you, my fellow singers!
