Ronald Capistrano - Class Of 1972

Ronald Capistrano passed away in Colorado Springs on March 6 at the age of 68. Attended Harrison High School and graduated from CU-Boulder in 1976, he joined the Navy. When a diving injury ended his flying career, he served on amphibious assault ships throughout the Pacific.

After the Navy, Ron moved to Breckinridge to ski, working for the Postal Service. Ron married Lori Hays in 1985, and the couple moved to Littleton and joined the St. Andrews Society to celebrate Lori's Scottish heritage. When the marriage ended after 17 years, Ron continued in the Society, becoming convener for Clan Hay at the Highland Games.

On returning to Colorado Springs, Ron began working at Sertich Ice Center doing what he enjoyed – skating, playing hockey and helping young skaters perfect their form.

Ron caught COVID in 2021, never fully recovered, and suffered a stroke on March 6. He is survived by his brother Robert, and will be fondly remembered by many friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 26th at 11AM at 524 E Bijou St., the home of Ron's friends, Rick and Holly Villa.
