Please list any school awards, achievements and or honors that you received in high school.

National Honor Society

Were you in Band?

No but I own a piano now. Wish I knew how to play it.

Were you in Drama?

Yes, I was the treasure of the club and worked back stage on productions. I couldn't act so it was a safe place for me.

Were you in Music?

Not in school but sang in the shower all the time, could not hold a note to save my life.

Were you the class clown, the jock, the freak, the loner, the party animal, the nerd or a non-conformist?

Just wanted to fit in and make friends and find a girl that liked me for who I was. A bit of a loner and a bit of a nerd who tried fitting in with the it crowd. Was and am very opinionated but everyone seems to take extremes left and right these days and I am tired of arguing, so I will just keep it to myself. I didn't party but wasn't invited anyway.

Were you into the Arts?

I was told before I moved to Colorado that it had one of the best photography schools in the country. When we got here, no one knew anything about it and discourage me from going in that direction. Since my ability to color with crayons was limited I tried to stay with more academic themes.

Comments:

I had someone come up to me at work the other day (I won't mention names) and say, "Hey David, Do you remember me, I was" so and so's friend? I replied, "Why does it have to be" so and so's friend? "You use to be mine." I guess when you loose touch with people they forget who you were or tried to be. But of course I find it easier and happier to remember people as they were in those days. Young and full of ambition. Lately trying to reconnect with "old" friends who can't remember the times spent together but do want to sell you a car or Amway products. It is very depressing, so lets raise a cup to days gone by. After graduating I had no idea what college or how to go about getting into college, thanks HHS counselors. Ended up doing pre-med at UCCS but after three years as a medic in the Army Reserve I realized medicine was barbaric and trying to work a full time job and go to school was not working out either. Had to change my major three times, Was at UCCS for four years and then got my commissioned in the Army during that time. Was on the Army reserve rolls for 19 years, 51 weeks, give or take. Been working retail in one form or another for most of my life, mostly as management. Finally got married in 2004, my daughter was born in 2006.

School Story:

I was in the German Club, Drama Club, Debate Team, National Honor Society, Year Book staff, School Newspaper, and I attended ski club meetings but couldn't afford to go skiing back then. My junior year was so interesting, my senior year tainted with scandal (thank you Mr. Midgely) and people turning on each other because of it. I still look back and am shocked at the behavior. I had to pull out of most of my activities because people were becoming so hatefull or protecting their own interest at the cost of others. Anyone know who stoled my 35 MM camera during that year from my locker? It had been given to me by father who got it in the Vietnam war. It had a piece of shrapnel in the case from a Viet Cong attack. Thanks for the memories.
